Thursdays 1.00pm - 2.30pm Parents/carers need to attend/remain onsite
This session specifically for Home Educated children. Come and get close to nature in an idyllic woodland. Examples of activities on offer woodland crafts, using tools and campfire cooking. Suitable for children aged 4 - 12 yrs and younger siblings welcome too! Forest school can help to develop confidence, improve self-esteem, the ability to manage and take risks, concentration, team work and independence. Oakwood Forest School promotes the Forest School and child led learning.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING A TYPICAL DAY/SESSION?
Firstly, we meet at the log circle and discuss the rules, boundaries and toileting arrangements. Then it is up to children! We will provide some seasonal activities e.g. flag making / den building but the children choose what they’d like to do. We will assist with tools etc as required. There is also the mud kitchen, hammocks, tyre swing, digging area, fairy trees and woodland to explore.
WHAT TO WEAR
Long sleeved t-shirts/jumpers
Sun hat/cream or warm hats/gloves/scarves (depending on weather)
Waterproofs (top and bottoms)
A pair of gardening/work gloves are recommended
Insect repellent – if desired
WHAT TO BRING
Water bottle (full) enough water for the whole session (there is NO water in the woods)
Some snacks (if desired)
Extra warm clothes (winter sessions)
ANY ESSENTIAL MEDICATION E.G. INHALERS
